Official Name: Katrina Louis Kali
Nicknames: Kat, Kali, Mouse
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Alignment: Good
Appearance: Katrina stands about 4'9" and weighs 89 lbs, giving her rather thin features to her small body. She has short black hair that runs to her jaw line, and light silver eyes, giving her a rather macabre appearance when she stands in the dark with her trench coat. She generally wears a large, thick black trench coat (when traveling) that runs down to her ankles, with light silver buttons that keep it closed, hiding her other clothes. Underneath all her heavy garb lies a white button up shirt, with blue slacks (sometimes jeans). Katrina also wears short black boots with belt buckles that hold them closed, as well as laced white gloves. She's also been seen wearing a blue tux coat, as she claims to 'like the tail'.
Defining Features/ Disabilities: Being cursed with an incredibly bad case of obsessive compulsive disorder, Katrina feels that she must correct any flaws that she notices, and is terrified of messes or overcrowding. She becomes aggravated in the event of an offense to her order, and can become quite the deadly opponent when she finds the culprit of the disorder.
Goals/Ambitions: Katrina wants to find a way to take her fate into her own hands, as she feels helpless to change or effect the events that happen around her.
History: Katrina was born into a poor family, to a sick father, and depressed (but beautiful) mother. Her father had worked himself nearly to death in one of the old toxic mines in the U.S. to try and earn a better life for their family, only to learn that he had a deadly kind of lung cancer, and that because the owner had no knowledge of the toxin, there would be no payment for his recovery. He passed away when Katrina was a mere six years of age, leaving his widowed wife to care for the child.
Katrina was practically born silent, and her attitude persisted as she grew. Other children were generally afraid to approach her, as she was so quiet, people either assumed she was mute or unfriendly. She was raised without a friend, and her mother generally never spoke to her for Katrina too closely reminded her mother of her father, making her sorrow more painful.
Katrina's mother was a chronic alcoholic, until she met Katrina's new step father, who rejected her at first sight. He gave Katrina's mother a deal, either abandon the child and live with him at his estate, or the marriage was off and the two would live in poverty. Eager to loose her burdens, Katrina's mother took the deal, abandoning her to the local orphanage when she was the tender age of nine.
Her mother had left her with nothing but a case of clothes, an old antique clothing set that had been passed down from the family (she had tried to appraise it for money several times, but everyone had said they were worthless), as well as a small knife for her saftey. Katrina lived peacefully in solitude, alone at the orphanage. Although she lacked companionship, she had learned to enjoy the quiet nature of study, with the occasional combat practice (learned from a book of course). Katrina felt no anger towards her mother, seeing it best to try and survive alone as her original father would have wanted her to.
It wasn't long before Katrina began to feel useless and incompetent, as nobody she had ever met accepted her, spare the exception of her deceased father. It was as if she was powerless to change her fate as she succumbed to the darkness. However, Katrina's mother would have never guessed that the frail gloves in the old antique clothing set had the power of innocence locked away withing the fabric. Granting her wish for a friend, they would glow softly at night, giving off a warm essence that comforted Katrina when nobody else would.
Her silent life at the orphanage quickly ceased when an Akuma attacked her home, having been summoned by one of the children nearby that couldn't deal with the pain of mourning. Katrina was hardly able to run away, let alone save the other children, and still feels responsible for her failure to save their lives during the attack. She barely escaped the residence to the outdoors in time to be saved by an exorcist that was in the area at the time, searching for possible innocence.
Feeling bad for the scared child (she'd become even less social after seeing the other children die), the exorcist who eventually introduced herself as Armin Cantiss Lee took in Katrina. It wasn't long before the two discovered that the rumors of innocence was true, as the power was endowed in the seemingly harmless gloves that Katrina wore everywhere. Despite Armin's orders to return to the headquarters, she deviated, having other (selfish) plans. Armin believed that those who could control the powers of innocence were better than other humans, and led the unwilling Katrina through a life of petty crime, training her along the way.
Feeling broken and used, Katrina finally left her master at the age of thirteen, wandering alone with everything she felt she needed. Today she is curious about the Dark Order, but feels that she is unworthy to be an exorcist at the moment, and trains alone as she travels hoping to one day better herself. She does eventually want to become an exorcist and help with the struggle against the Millenium Earl.
Personality: Katrina is a very kind person, but not at first meeting, and usually not until you have gained her trust. She has learned to distrust most people, as the fear of Akumas lurk through her head. She prefers to remain silent, learning about people from afar, and doesn't like to get involved in most emotional discussions.
Katrina enjoys mornings, as most people throughout towns and cities are silent or sleeping, and Akuma's tend to remain hidden at dawn. She feels that although solitude can be bad if it remains for too long, but it can also mend the worst kind of mental wounds, as she has been able to forgive her mother (she thinks) and put her painful past behind her so that she may continue to survive.
Weapons and Tools: Katrina's weapon is the laced gloves she always wears, as they are endowed with the power of innocence. Upon activation, they glow blue with power, and Katrina is able to use them as if they were sharp blades to slice through her enemies, or to create an energy shield in front of her for a more protective stance. Her innocence connection is at 72 percent, although she has no knowledge of it yet, as she has yet to be told her rating. Katrina also still carries the knife she was given, although it now rarely plays a role in her combat strategy.
Friends/Family: Katrina's original father is deceased, and her mother and step father now live at a fancy estate in Washington. She has no companions, and travels alone searching for better training.
RP Sample: Katrina walked outside of the old rusty tavern, heading for the city gate. It had become high time that she left this place in search of something else, what it was she couldn't decide, but it was time to go. Akuma could be anywhere, and she didn't want them to have a decent attack plan in the event that she became cornered among the other residents and walls of the city. People were everywhere, making Katrina want to run for the alleyway, but there would be no reaching the gates safely through the dark passageways.
"It's alright, we'll make it out. There's only a few more blocks to go." She said, trying to keep a high spirit, but there was no doubting how bad her fear was among so many other people. 'Just don't make eye contact, that's the trick!' She thought, avoiding looking at the strange sights that littered the streets, shrugging her head deeper into her trench coat.
"Always stay out of crowds, little mouse!! They're too much trouble, much more than they're worth!" Armin would say while hitting her over the head, wearing her typical large grin. She knew that lesson well, but she had become sick of the worn down city. 'This time, it's worth the risk. I'd rather face an Akuma than have to suffer the stinky smell of the inn, with the tantalizing dripping roof!' Katrina fidgeted with her fingers as she passed a rambunctious group of individuals. She'd hate to fight an Akuma, but this city was full of weird people and weird things; she'd seen her fill.
Finally she neared the gates, taking a moment to observe the black arches before taking leave of the city. "And we're out!" She exclaimed, relieved to be free of the crowd at last. "Should we head for another city? Or just wander? Maybe... maybe it's time I head for the Dark Order. Perhaps I just can't pull off this gig alone anymore. Not that I'm going insane, I just think I should be doing something more productive, don't you?" She asked, staring at her hands, but her question remained unanswered.
Additional Information: Katrina will often speak to herself, although she is actually addressing her gloves which she calls Yume. The name is Japanese for 'Dream', and she believes that it is the innocence in the gloves that gives her the power to change her fate, essentially (meaning to her) making a statement that her fate is changed by her dreams, or that fate is a dream.
